Title: Exciting Find (at least for me :) )
Post by: Frank Dimos on September 26, 2014, 11:25:04 AM
Kinda excited! Just found my very first single pour skillet! It's a W.C. Davis, single pour, bottom gate, wide flat rim, and closed handle (no hole). From what I gather, WCD started in Cincinnati in 1848, which is where I found it. Later became Piqua, correct? Does anyone know when the name change occurred?

Anyway, no pictures yet, lots of surface rust and crud to get off, but it's going in the lye as soon as the stuff that's in there now is done! Pictures when I'm done.

Hello Frank. Yes thats a nice find. There are some WC Davis pieces out there. I have a few. And they moved to Piqua in about 1887 and became Favorite Stove and Range, but I think they changed their name before they moved to Piqua. This is one cast iron manufacturer that we know pretty much their whole history and there are a lot of nice pieces they left behind. So congratulations on finding that piece Frank.  :)

OK Cheryl, I'll take some "before" pictures just for you, but only because you're so nice!
