Oh yeah, it's safe to use.  It just has a lot of "character". ;)

The inside cooking surface looks awesome. Probably be one of your best cooking skillets. Thanks for sharing.

I had really low expectations when I found it because it looked so bad. It was at an estate sale. Not in the house with all the nice stuff, but in the garage with all the cheap "junk". It was a satisfying project. I'm moving on up. Granted I'm still new, I haven't found anything that would impress a collector, but at least I'm to the point of giving away all my newer Lodge. My friends are calling me a geek now, but they sure appreciate the hand me downs.

I still have some new Lodge.  Once in awhile I need the deep skillet and it gets to see the light of day.  Also my larger camp oven is new lodge. There are certainly times I'd rather use one I can replace. :)
