Removing coil handles
« on: December 21, 2013, 10:39:27 PM »
Is it possible to remove the coil handles from a Griswold #8 p/n 151 WI?  This one does not have the screw with an eyelet thru the middle. The coil appears to screw onto the casting, but mine don't budge. I'm thinking a hammer and punch might work, but wanted to check with the experts first.

I would try spraying with, in the following order:
1.  WD40
2.  Liquid Wrench or Seafoam Deep Creep
3.  Kroil - the wonder product

Allow to soak, and reapply as necessary.

Can also try heating the paddles, slowly.

Wrap heated paddle in folded towel, and wrap a piece of leather around the coil and slowly try to loosen.

Sometimes even trying to tighten it a tiny bit may break it loose.  Just using your hands, not any tools.  Wiggling it back and forth does the same thing.

OK, I'll try that. They are twisted on then, and should more or less unscrew?
