3 Legged Erie Do and Unmarked 3 legged Skillet w Gatemarks

So, more of last months estate sale ( where I scored the Griswold #2 WI ) included this 3 legged ERIE DO with gatemark and lid, and the 3 legged #11 skillet marked SY with lid. I am putting together a personal catalog of my CI, hoping that my grandkids will use some sense before just dumping their inheritance, so am asking for the pricing estimate. I have not obtained the BlueBook yet, knowing that an item is worth what the buyer wants to pay. Would also  really like a 2nd opinion on what condition, background, and rarity are.  Thanks

I don't see an obvious bottom gate on the Erie pieces.  I do on the other.  The good news is that there should only be side gate marks on the Erie piece.

I don't know value, but I have been of the opinion that when you see an X following the pattern number, it is an early version as the pattern is developed (kind of like X for experimental).  Just my opinion, no proof, other than the X marked items tend to be early examples.

Looks to be in great condition.

Yep, I overtyped when I said there was a gatemark on the ERIE piece ( although I'll go back and look, believe it does have a side grind mark ). I was actually more concerned that the ERIE had signs of heat damage ( wire bail deformed and reddish metal tinge which would negatively affect its collector appeal, but figure that its age and overall identification as an early ERIE is more relative.
Thanks for the additional info on the letter X, there has been so much info to research on these, that was a new tidbit. I have not sold any CI on line, but if I do, I want to be able to reliably portray the item! Appreciate 2nd opinions from those who know!

That ERIE camp oven is hard to find and worth some money.  I can't see anything in the photos that looks like fire damage vs just rust. The bails often take a beating.   A good cleaning would help it.  If it isn't damaged that is a great piece of cast iron.  The spider skillet is a good size and has some value, but nothing like the ERIE camp oven.

You have a number eight camp oven. They came in sizes 8,9,10,11,12, and 13. The size 8 is not common at all. How much is it worth? I would say around seven hundred dollars, give or take. Its a tough set to put together for sure.

Well, now my Mea Culpa, I dropped the lid that was on the Erie camp oven, broke the handle into two pieces. Not the way to treat Grand Ol History....!

I kinda like the existing " patina" on both, wont be using these for much more than just display. I did Lye bath and then gave one seasoning to each, will think about an E-bath
tho.

A short vinegar soak or etank session would have removed the reddish tinge before you seasoned it.

Really too bad about the lid, that was a VERY nice set, still is uncommon though.

I'd be tempted to take some JB Weld and stick the pieces back on.  At least it would still look good from a distance and even hold up to handling, but not cooking.

Which is what i did, (JB Weld), it looks OK, but still sick about it, but now that I know even more about it, it is a great display piece! The reddish tinge is not real noticeable and with the rough surface and patina, it has character. I am posting another hammered kettle and lid on general forum, Havent found info about the markings on Lid - crossed double lines.

That's too bad Doug about the lid.  Those are really hard to find.  It will display nice though.
