Montgomery Ward Waffle Iron
« on: July 10, 2003, 06:17:23 PM »
I saw a Ward Cast Iron waflle iron today. Montgomery Ward Co.    I assume they were  made by Wagner?  Do they seem to have any value to collectors?

Jerry, I believe the ones I have seen were Wagner made pieces, and I think they draw about the same as the Wagner pieces, which isn't much.

Jerry,

I have seen them on Ebay and they don't bring much.   I have seen them in antique stores for way too much and have been there for years and not sell.   How much was it?   I think I have one and being cheap have probably paid under $30.00 for it.

Jerry,

Just by looking at it,  it don't look Griswold.   Looks more Wagner.   Did it have any numbers on it?

$50.00 to me sounds steep.   But I am cheap.   Hey,  that rhymes!!!    But I always say  "pay what you think it is worth"    I have pieces in my collection that I have overpaid on,   but I just wanted it.   You know.

Enjoy the hobby.   It is just for fun.

A have a round griddle that I thought was Wards. It's labeled Wards Wear or Wards Way or something like that. I'll have to look when I get home. I know it's in one of the books. I know there not worth much.

I've got two variations of the Wards skillets.  One (like in the blue book) is WardsCast with a kind of mountain outline made with two 'M's and two  'W's.  The M and W make for Montgomery Ward, but I wondered if it didn't tie back to Wagner Ware with the two W's.  The other is a Wards skillet I've had for a long time.  Didn't even know it had writing on it till I cleaned it good.  It's handle is also very Wagnerish, but I'm not sure if it predates the WardsCast or not.  But that makes two variations for Wards.  I saw a waffle iron with the WardsCast logo on it on Ebay a few months back, but have never seen the other...

Here's one with a Logo like the first above...

Yhe one on your link has a pattern number 1431 which shows as a Wagner number for a # 3 Wards skillet in the Red Book.

Greg, What are the two of them up to?  I showed Sherry the emails from, well, that other site and she was wondering why someone got banned, but I didn't know she was in touch with you?  She wasn't selling you guys some of my stuff while I was indisposed, was she?  I'm afraid if I tell her she's smart, she'll start using it on ME!
