« on: July 14, 2003, 10:32:35 PM »

Jerry, I have always thought the ash trays without the match holders were not Erie made pieces. I even think I read it somewhere but I know that doesn't make it so.

I agree with Harry. They are not marked ERIE and the "rule of thumb" is, If it's not marked ERIE it is presumed to be made in Sidney.

I agree totally that they were not made in Erie.....but I wondered about the one with just a 0?    it appears to me to be the same size and quality as the one that has Made in USA which i thought was a Wagner made piece.

I also have t wo different aluminum ashtrays that are probably lunch break or backyard pieces but interesting.

Any one know of any other variations that I dont show?

I have a black/white speckled, black/red speckled, red/white speckled that are round without the match holder.  Have seen them in yellow/creme, a light blue and black/green speckled  I have the red/creme with match holder.  Plus a couple different colors in the square ones.  I also have seen the brass ones but thought like Jerry and passed it up, it didnt look right.

Jerry,
The "0" ashtray was made in Erie.  The ones without the match holders were made in Sidney as far as I know.  All the others with match holders were made in Erie except for any made by an individual or other company as a copy.

I would like to see all your photos put on the unusual and interesting page with some simple notes.
