WW Sidney O 1081A Lid
« on: September 19, 2003, 05:05:29 PM »
I know this is a freshman type question...but, can someone please tell me what skillet this lid fits (WW Sidney O 1081A)?  I bought is because the seller stated it was a #10 lid.  It's not.  Thanks for the help.

It was made to fit the 1088 #8 Deep Skillet. Although not intended, it fits the Fat Free Fryer too!

TC,
I was thinking it might fit a #9 skillet.  I guess not, based on your reply?

Jick,
Just a little clarification...the lid will fit the 1088 deep skillet but be careful it's the 1088 period not the 1088 A BCDE etc.
the 1088 deep skillets with the letter denomination after the 1088 DO NOT HAVE THE POURING LIPS.  For your information the lid fits a Wagner National #9 skillet perfectly
Good luck,
Brian ;D

Right you are Brian about the letter denomination. I forgot about that and the #9 National too. We had a thread on that somewhere discussing a lid to fit the FFF. I'm too lazy to look it up. B'sides, it'll just confuse the issue. ;D

Ok, so it will fit a National #9.  What about a WW Sidney O #9 with the heat rim?  I am building a collection of that style of skillet.  Thanks for the info.

Nope! Just checked. It's a little small. I bought a regular #9 lid p/n 1069 in hopes it would fit the FFF. Alas, I had to buy a #9 skillet to go under it! ;D

Thanks for all of the info.  I realize now that I don't have any use for this lid.  I paid for a money back guarantee with Paypal.  I'm going to send it back to them unless someone in this forum says they want it.  I've got about $40 in it.

I know nothing about the Wagner 1088 skillet / lid variations but I read above that the 1088 skillets with the letter after the 1088 do not have the pouring lips. The following auction is for a 1088 b skillet, 1081 lid and the skillet has pouring lips. Is this an exception to the rule or have I mis read something?

Haven't we all learned that as soon as an absolute rule is set, something comes along and changes it? ;D

Looky here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3242916250&category=976

A 1088o. No pouring spouts, but it has a tab on the other end. Doesn't look like a double skillet tab to me. So... what is the 1088 w/letter and w/o pouring spouts?

I have no idea. I never paid much attention to these pans. I bought one when I first started collecting and it is still around here somewhere I think. Quite frankly I didn't know there were any variations to this pan until I read this post. I've seen a bunch of them, but just never paid much attention to them. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for one with the lips, as I'm almost sure the one I have is the tab end, no spout variation.
