Griswold Bread Stick vs. Corn Bread (stick) Pan

Can anyone tell me the difference between the #22 and #23? They
both seem to be of equal size and same number of slots, but it seems having "bread stick" vs. "corn" makes a big difference in price. Is the only physical difference the label?

The blue book shows the #22 having the slots going all the way accross and the #23 having a center divider separating the slots, ie. the 23 has twice as many slots. As with almost all cases supply and demand determines the price. The more rare the more expensive. Jon Haussler's pan book list the #22  as having 12 variations all with a rareity of 1, and the #23 with no variations and a rareity of 4. So, the #23 is worth more but, still not being really rare. His rareity scale is 1 thru 10, with 10 being the rarest. C B

Thank you. Perhaps I got the numbers incorrect. The pans both have the 11 slot (long) but the only difference I see is the label on the back - "bread" or "corn." I understand the rareity issue, but in this
case I am looking for a "working" pan. No need to pay collector's
pricing for the rare pan if both perform equally on the job.

Gus: Just for cooking cornbread, I like the pans with the ear of corn or the shock of wheat better. You can find #273 corn stick pans very reasonable. With the embossing you get more surface area and thus a crispier stick of cornbread than with the smooth slots. Try my "true southern corn bread" under the recipe section. My #280 which is rated a 10 on the rareity list also makes good corn bread. Get you some buttermilk, bacon drippings, stone ground meal, and eggs and go to work.

Gus is right......it is a fattening hobby......just ask the aebleskiver queen!   [smiley=biglaugh.gif]

I collect users and display pieces.  I'm not that fussy about my users.....Gris, Wagner, Favorite, whatever does the job for the least amount of money.  I save my big bucks to sink into the display pieces.

C.B., My Haussler book shows 15 variations of the 22 and 2 variations of the 23. Is there more than one edition of the yellow Schiffer book out or are you using the loose leaf version Jon did? Just curious on the difference in number of variations.
