Greg the first and second pictures don't look like the same thing. My first though was some type of boot jack in the first picture but the second picture doesn't support that. I have no clue.

I opened "it" and turned it on its side so you could see the inside. There is a big M on the top of it. There are 4 legs that look like they could be fastened to a table or the wall. Thanks for posting this Greg. Janice

There was one passed around like this at my "antique tractor club" meeting,  but not as fancy.  I can't fully remember what it was for,  but if I remember right,  it was for drawing out rope.   Don't take that as gospel.   As I am having a hard time remembering. ;D

I don't know what it is. The pictures don't look to be the same thing at all, no way. The first one looks like a piece of gnarled up tree root with air holding up one side of it. How it is standing on two legs, I don't know. The second one looks like metal with holes bored to secure it to something. I don't see how this can be the same piece. Does anybody else agree that it looks like the same thing. And what does upened up mean, I mean does it have hinges or something like that?

Perry, I think I see it now.  The first photo is it on it's side and opened up.  Notice the handle in the second photo.  You can see it in the first to give perspective.  No idea what it was used for though.

I decided to take one more picture to see if that might help.

I think the cork press is right!! I did a search on google and found a cast iron cork press and it looks the same. Thanks guys. I could not have done this without your help.

I agree with Perry. That first picture threw me for a loop. The added third picture really helped. I really don't know what it is for sure but Cork press sounds good. Interesting, thanks for posting.

I think it is a cork press. Thats what we have always been told.
Yeap, I would agree with the cork press, as the size is correct for that.

Thats it,  you know I said that to Jenny if that was the cork press that was passed around.   My tractor club always has new stuff passed around every month that everyone gets to guess what it is.

I'm glad we got that solved. From the third picture, I thought it was some kind of crimper that could crimp various sized pieces, pieces of what I didn't know, then I kept on reading and got to the cork part. That was fun, now show us another picture.
