Question on Wagner Ware # 9 Oval Roaster

I  looked at the lid of a very large Wagner #9 Drip Drop Oval Roaster last night. The underside of the lid has a 1" X 1/2" circular gap on its lip. It looks like a chip to me, but the owner says it is a steam vent.
Does anybody have any information about this lid. Does anybody have any closeup pictures of the underside of this lid or another roaster like it? The only picture that I have found is on page 55 of the red book. It is from a #1 roaster. It looks like the rim of the lid is the same all the way around. I would appreciate any information. I don't have a picture to show, so I hope the description I gave is sufficient.

Julius, it's a chip.  These were made with the idea of keeping the steam in and making juices, hence the drip drop.  This is a number 7 on ebay witha photo of the lid.

Thanks for the reply Roger. That is what I thought. My #6, #7, and #8 round Wagner Ware Drip Drop Roasters do not have a vent.
I wanted to ask the experts before I passed on the roaster.
