« on: November 17, 2005, 04:08:42 PM »
Howdy!
Found another piece of Iron! About 7" tall & about 10 1/2" Diameter at the top. "WAGNER" Sidney O & a number 9, on the bottom, with a ring attached to the side, about half way up (See the photos).
What is it?
Thanks

I'm not a WW expert, but I'd say that is a flat bottom kettle.  I also believe I remember John Myers saying that flat bottom kettles by WW are not an easy find.  We have some WW experts and they will be coming on to help.

Yes it is a flat bottom kettle.    Not easy to find???   Well,  I think they are as easy to find as a Griswold.   Which is not a common piece.   There is a lid for the flat bottom kettles.   Those are really hard to find for Griswold and I have only seen one on Ebay for Wagner and that was a #8 and went for $125.00   If you need any more help,  just ask.

Covers for flat bottom kettles were only an option and probably did not often come with the pots and that's why you see so few of them.  Dutch ovens, on the other hand, did come with covers.  Brian, would love to see a photo of your pot/cover here in addition to eye candy.

I too have a 4 digit #8 FBK with a lid too.  I am the one that paid $125.00 for it. ;D   It is very nice.

Yep,  yours predates mine.  What does your lid look like?     Number on the bottom is 1228.   Here is my bottom. :-[

Howdy!
Thanks for all the great photos!
I noticed that on my kettle, it is simply labeled "WAGNER" Sidney, O, where on the other 2 kettles have the Wagner Ware  Sidney, -O-. Why the difference in the labeling. And what was the ring for?
THanks
Phillip

Yours is a older kettle than the two posted.   Older markings.  The ring is to tip the kettle while holding the bail.

Ask any other questions you like.   We love questions.
