Griswold #3 Meat Grinder
« on: December 23, 2005, 03:47:18 PM »
Hi All,
A brand new member here so please be patient.
I have recently aquired a Griswold #3 meat/food grinder in great condition.
I would really like to get a owners/product manual for this item. I believe I
have all the parts and would like to try it out sometime!!!
Thanks.

Hello and welcome Bob: I have a number of these grinders. They came with 3 "dies" and a 4 bladed cutter. An option at the time of purchase was a sausage stuffer, not many have the stuffer. Your #3 is next to the largest which is a #4. I use the coarse die for grinding beef chunks for chili. This give a bit coarser grind than standard ground beef at the grocery. The owners manuel is actually a parts list, (not much of a manuel). All I can tell you is put it together and grind away. I spray "pam" or something on the dies and cutter after using because they are not rust resistant. I predict you will enjoy using your grinder, they work great.
Hold still rabbit, so I can cook you.

Hello C.B.
Thanks for all the information. Looks like I got lucky with this item. It has the three dies and a "star" looking blade you refered to. It also came with the sausage stuffer with the number "2&3 stamped on the side. I'm speculating that this means it'll fit either the #2 or #3 grinder. Also included was a homemade wooden push rod!!! A close friend will be going elk hunting next year and has promised me some meat if he's successful. We have a small speciality meat market in town that I'll be visiting to see if I can "grind" some information, techniques, and supplies from. I too have been struck with the cast iron bug, but I'll save all that for the meet and greet page.
Dr. Stahl suggested that someone may have an old manual that could be copied/scanned to a .pdf file. I hope this is the case as the info is always nice to have with the tool.
Thanks.

I will look to see if I can find one of the manuels.  Yes, you are right about the 2 and 3 sausage stuffer fitting both the 2 and 3 grinder.
