Chicken Fryer?Two questions

Two questions.  Is this what you call a chicken fryer? and based on the last thread is it a Lodge?

On the bottom it says No 8    10 5/8 in and Made in USA (yes I know after 1961)

The fry pan sides are 3 inch.

The lid has the small holes in the lid as the last thread.

Not good pictures but here first is the whole thing and next post is the lid.
Change is hard…. it's very tough to bend a coin

They are Birmingham Stove and Range all the way.

Thanks Roger but how do you tell?  The lid looks so close to the last thread "Lodge or BSR" and people said Lodge.

Mike the best way to tell is lodge has what some call nipples which are self basting and hang down, now the BSR lid  inside Is kinda recessed. now i should have known that on my recent post but the way the pour spout cover is shaped kinda threw me off :o

The lid has the basting "dimples" that go in vs. the basting "tits' that stick out.  The bottom of the skillet has a size that is 10 5/8.  The only foundry I've seen use fractions on the diameter is BSR.  Also, if you look at the shape of the handle of the skillet, the bottom will be a V- shape up to the body of the skillet.  Don't sweat it Mike, over time you just get to know what they are by looking at them.  The shapes and markings are different and eventually you'll be able to tell them apart just by looking.

So Lee, your lid is BSR?  It looks to have holes instead of nipples?  My lid also has holes...so therefore BSR?

Is it called a chicken fryer?

Thanks to both of you. That is good information to know.  With an untrained eye they looked the same.

It's my first pan with a lid.  I'm delighted.

Mike, the top picture is indeed a BSR. the bottom is a Lodge and i do believe that yours is a BSR  chicken fryer you have there. here is my BSR chicken fryer that is a bit older than the one you have



note the different marking on the bottom
