Handle ID on a Griswold

These are not in the BB or RB. I can't seem to find this style handle anywhere. HELP!!!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.  But these skillets were made closer to 1906 during the transition from GRISWOLD'S ERIE and they do not have a number on the top of the handle.

Well all be jiggered.  Your 5 has the number on the handle and its for sale!  My five and eight, and three have handles like that and they do not have the numbers on the handles!?!

Guess you saw the pics in the "Items for sale" . I want to get a value on these before they sell. I'd hate to sell a rare one for a common price. That's why I'm here with this thread.

Chuck,
  The 5 like yours that I have I could say is pretty close to yours. You make the call from the pictures below.
   I have talked with 2 men who know there Griswold pretty well and all the handle variations are not in the books. Theres just to many. Sometimes when they were getting ready to change one style there might be 3 differant handles on those skillets before one became the norm. I hope I said that right. I have at least 7 handle variations in my  collection that I know of...not on the same series but do have same series with different handles.....  :-?  I think I confused myself now..... ;D

Jesse's got it right... as we know, everything is not is the books.

Something else about those 5's (I've got one also, use that puppy daily)... look the the no 5 on the back and then the no 5 on the handle. Different, eh? The 5 on the back of these skillets seem to be a more "stylized" font than any of the other slant logos.

And, just in case you were thinking that this type of handle might be tied to the slant erie without quotation marks...ferget it! I've got a #4, no quotes, tear drop shape scoop on underside of handle and no number on the top of the handle  :P

The bottom looks the same as mine. The 5 I have has the number on the top of the handle, but the 8 does not. Strange.... Sound right with the transition from one handle to another though. I understand perfectly. I'm assuming then that these would be about the same value as the ones in the book, or are they more rare? I haven't seen to many of these handles around, but then again, I haven't been around this nearly as long as most of you folks.

Chuck,

If you are completely nuts, like me  :D you must have one of every type of handle you can get your grubby little hands on.  I love all of the slant Erie stuff.  I cannot say why, but if I wasn't married I would marry a set of these things!!!
