ID for Cast Iron Griddle
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:36:34 AM »
I'm trying to ID the maker for this skillet griddle.  It's marked on the bottom in block letters "11 1/4 INCH SKILLET GRIDDLE" in the lower third of the pan.  There's a "B" just about where the handle meets the pan, and on the underside of the handle itself.  The pan is machined smooth on the cooking surface; the underside is less smooth, but still fine grained.  It's weighty - about 4-1/4 pounds.
Any experts out there know this one?

I'm just guessing but Birimgham Stove & Range (BSR), and if it does not have Made in USA on the bottom, made prior to 1960. Without a picture it is just a guess.
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of it!

Looks like an unmarked Wagner, but no "Made In USA". Did they start making these in an asian country in the later years?

Unmarked Wagner  -  actually that was my first thought too - I think I read somewhere that there was a period of time when they didn't use the Wagner Ware logo.  This has a machined cooking surface, and "feels" old.  I took about 1/4" of grease  & gunk off it. I don't think this was an import.

I think I can confirm that this is indeed an unmarked Wagner.  I sold a similar one on eBay in 2007; I was able to locate the photos.  The pan is identical, except for the Made in USA and the Wagner Ware logo.  The marking "11-1/4 INCH SKILLET GRIDDLE" is in the photo below
