I was at a auction today and there was # 14 Griswold skillet with a heat ring. The logo was 3 5/8" outer dia. Also on the bottom by the handle was 15 1/4 inches. I am thinking this was made after the Wagner merge. What are they worth and how rare are they? Thanks

MD, I'd say anywhere between $75-100.  I've seen them go for more and less than that though.

MD, Why aren't you posting picture of that 14? OMG, don't tell me you didn't buy it.  ;) Just kidding. If you didn't, no big deal. I've been skipping alot of items at auction myself. I used to grab everything that I saw, but I use a little more descretion now. Of course that 14 would have to go pretty high for me to pass.

Page 135 of the red book has two 14's, one made by Griswold and the other a post merger Sidney piece.  

The Erie one is said to be from 1959, but the skillet listings in the beginning of the section say that the 14 w ring was in the 1920-1930 series.  Later ones should have had the small logo, right?  Maybe they didn't make too many of them and the pattern was still in good shape so they kept using it.

Jim, I think the date of 1959's is wrong for the Erie marked 14 skillet they show and, according to the history, Griswold was no longer in Erie in 1959. There were no small logo skillets in size 2, 11, 13, and 14 but there are # 11's and 14's with the late handle hole style. I would think, but I can't say for sure, the late handle large skillets were made quite a bit earlier than the 1950's.

Also, we have seen a master pattern of a 13 with the small trademark, but it looks like it was a prototype pattern and wasn't put into production.

I passed on it. The guy bidding against me wanted that skillet, so I ran it up a little and got out. Maybe next time.
