Wagner Hotel WI PAT Dated 1892
« on: February 06, 2009, 09:41:26 PM »
Found this one last night at an auction. Of course I had to wait till near the end to bid on it. Needs some cleanin', but I think it'll look nice when it's done.

Nobody likes my waffle iron. :'(  I thought it was a real nice piece. Guess I'll just toss it out. ;)

OMG!!!!  Dang you Chuck.  You find all the cool stuff.  I'm tired of all this Asian stuff around here or the 1891 Wagner pieces.

Very nice, you lucky dog.  Been wanting one of these for awhile.

Chuck, you're gettin as bad as Jimmy Hale, if somebody ain't come on and said something real quick after he puts something up, Jimmy starts taken up flower money for us.  ;D ;D ;D

Actually Chuck, that is a very nice piece. I got a soft spot for the hotel waffle irons. If you look in the Red Book, theres two kinds of them, I gotta always look at the book to see which is which, but you'll figure it out. But they are nice. I have a four paddle one of them like that. People say they ain't no three paddle Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron. I can't find it any of the old catalogs but I do find the two paddle and the four paddle. I think the three paddle is out there. Everybody else made one, why wouldn't Wagner make one also? Chuck, I'm tryin to figure out a good way to put my paddles in lye without messin up the handles, or without having to take the handles off, what are you gonna do?  :-/

Perry, what patent date is on your 4 paddler, 1892, 1910, 1925 or other? That's the only dates I've seen on Wagner WI's.  Not much info on Wagner WI's so just trying to put some stuff together.  Mike

Sorry for the delay guys. Been cleaning and seasoning.

Charlee, I tossed it all right. Right into the electro. Mike gave me some info on how to get the handles off. I knew they screwed off but couldn't move them....Until I heated the whole WI on the stove. That loosened the handle just enough to get them off. Thanks again Mike.

Jerry, This is the only one I've seen around here, but then again I haven't been doing this for all that long. I have a line on some other cool stuff that I hope I can get my hands on. We'll just have to wait and see.

Charmayne, come on now, you just got that really nice square WI from your neighbor. Wags rules state that you can only have one WI.....or maybe that was 100 WI's. I'll have to check. ;D

Perry, If I come across a 3 paddle, I'll be sure to buy it. The more paddles the better I always say. Also, see above, for how to remove stubborn handles. The books don't show this exact WI. They are clase but there are some variations with the base, bail, and the handles. I have heard that there are at least 12 types of these. Mike knows what I'm talking about.

I should have this out of the electro tomorrow some time and I will try to get pictures posted of the finished product. These always take a bit longer to clean. All those nooks and crannies ya know.

Oh man, you went and cleaned it.  Hoping to get a deal on it uncleaned.  LOL.

But seriously, am interested in it.  Been wanting one.  Can just toss in the box with the other two WI.  LOL.

Mike, I will check my four paddle and see what date is on it. I would sure think that it would not be the 1892, but maybe. Its just kind of hard to believe that Wagner would make such a big waffle iron the second year they were in business.

I'm pretty sure it's "100".  When I showed him the hammered griddle I got from you his eyes lit up with "desire".  I had to rush it home Quick!  He also wanted me to send you all the old cast iron for cleaning.  When I told him you were back east he decided he needs his own electro set up.  Hey, I can blame it on you and stay out of trouble with his girlfriend!!!  Thanks, Chuck!     ;D

I have to admit, Chuck does an awesome job cleaning.  From the pics I've seen of your work cleaning and seasoning can only praise and give major Kudos.  You have it dialed in.

Mike, I THOUGHT, I posted this information before, SOMEWHERE. BUT, with Ellis flexing his muscles as our PROPOSED soon to be leader, I think he is zapping some of my words.  ;D

I check my four paddle Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron, and the base has no markings, none. And the paddles are marked with the number 1421 and the Wagner Logo and Sidney, O. So Mike, that does that tell you? :-/

Wait.  There's a FOUR paddle Wagner WI?  Like this, but two more?  Not sure if they consider each piece or the whole set as one.  Anyway to see a pic of the 4 paddle Wagner WI Perry?

Yes Jerry, there is a four paddle Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron, and its in the old catalogs too. And you know there is a two paddle, cause you see it there, and then we/I/they/us/them is discussing, if there is a three paddle Wagner Hotel Waffle Iron. I am of the opinion that there is, because other manufacturers made a three paddle and they all seemed to follow suit, but, we are still looking for somebody that knows about a three paddle. Harry Riva is of the opinion that Wagner did not make one, and since we ain't seen one, thus far, he is right. I'll get you a pic of the four paddle one Jerry. Take care.  :)

But would love to see pics of it.

BTW, instead of sending me that DO I was promised for joining, you can just send that 4 paddle Wagner Hotel WI to me instead. ;D ;)
