New Additions

Picked up a few additions to my cast iron "family" yesterday at a flea market. I've been wanting a griddle and I found a Griswold 609B #9 for $25 in good condition. I was also looking for a nice dutch oven and picked up one for $20. It is bad need of cleaning so I have it soaking in oven cleaner as I type. No pitting on it as far as I could tell. The only thing I could find on it is an X over an 8 on the bottom. I was also wanting one of those old cast iron skillet ashtrays to use as a spoon holder on my stove. I found a nice Birmingham Stove & Range Co. ashtray that still had the sticker on it for $5. I'm attaching the pics of all but the dutch oven. I'll post it after it's finished. I guess I did all right as far as the prices go?

First,  welcome.   Second,  STOP!!!  Do not use that skillet ashtray.   We have collectors of Birmingham Stove & Range Co  that would probably send you a little skillet ashtray for you to use with no label,  in trade for the one with the label.  You got some nice iron there.   Post some pictures of the DO (dutch oven)  when you get it done.

Here are pics of the dutch oven. bottom has an X over an 8. Inside the lid has a small 7 over 10 1/4 and under that an 8. No names are on it so I have no clue to the maker.

Thanks Dwayne! Now I just need to get it seasoned. I'm already using the Griswold griddle and it's slick as glass. I love the old cast iron!
