New Camp Oven
« on: November 13, 2009, 04:48:16 PM »
Finally got to pick it up today, and about all I can say about it is W*O*W. 22" Wide X 9-1/2" Deep. They say it weighs 160 pounds, but really don't think it weighs that much. Lid about 40, Pot about 80.

I like it Sam........Who made this one???  It's big enough to feed a small army.  I would imagine it is going to be near impossible to lift when full of food... ;D ;D ;D

Any other details about it????

I don't plan on using it so unless it starts to rust I probably won't.

I'd LOVE to have one of these for cook'n in!  I hate to ask but can't help myself...  what was the cost???

They also make a neat oval roaster that has a cast iron divider in it.

This site will give you all the answers. I got the engraving also, well actually it's not engraving, your name or whatever is cast on the lid in raised letters.

Ok... thanks.  I thought you had found one locally...lol.   I know someone who picked one up from Craig's List for around $100.00!  I really hate those stories... unless I'm the one finding the good deal!  ;D

Way cool Sam, Tom had one of the oval ones at the Des Moines convention and it was one heavy piece of iron.  I sure like the looks of them and with your name on it, you won't have to worry about someone carrying it off.  Of course if they do and don't need help with it, I think I might just let them have it.  I wouldn't want to mess with them ;D

Katrina, YOU MEAN, "WHO" are you going to cook in that?

Thats a very nice oven Sam. I have seen them before, but not like this, up close and personal. These are Meca, MICA, something like that. Are they still made here in the US?

Sam, that would be good to cook a hogs head down in, along with some other pork and you could make head cheese, pan pudding, all kind of good possibilities. You could rig that up easily enough so you could have it sit it a cradle of some sort, and then put a propane burner under it. She shure is a nice one Sam.  ;)

I wonder where I could put on of them at?  :-/

That's a definite yes or maybe a no. They opened a new foundry up in India, furnishing them with the sand molds, well just about everything but the manpower. They don't say what they make over there for they also make pipe and other stuff. The only thing I know for sure is that my name was cast in the US, cause it didn't have time to make the trip over.... Their website gives you some more info on that
