Info on Wagner roaster
« on: February 28, 2010, 10:37:06 AM »
I inherited a few pieces of Wagner and Griswold cast iron.  I have a Wagner roaster that I would like more information on if someone could help.
The bottom of the roaster says "Wagner Ware (with one "W" only), Sidney, -0-, Round Roaster, 1267C". The lid of the roaster says "Self Basting Roaster" with a 7 inside.  It measures 9" across the top and 7 1/2" across the bottom.
If anyone could give me more information about this piece, I would appreciate it.  Thanks.

Well Joyce let me start by telling you welcome to WAGS!  You have come to the right place to get answers to your questions.

Your piece is what is known as a dutch oven and they are highly collectible (not worth a fortune just highly collectible).

Is there any way that you could post a few photos of the markings on your dutch oven??  You can upload photos by using the browse button directly below the Quick Reply Box.

I guess I didn't do the pictures correctly. I'll send each separately.

Can anyone give me more information about this piece?  Such as a date range.  I am not a collector, just want to know something about the roaster. Thank you.

1930's ??  I am assuming that it would have come just before the concentric ring covered pieces??

Anybody else want to take a guess??

I have seen a few skillet covers like that (that don't say Wagner on the top but have writing) but I don't think I have ever seen one on a dutch oven
