That came out really nice , Frank. I have one similar, but mine is pitted on the bottom. I like the thin gate on yours that appears to have been broken off without any grinding. It really shows the skill that went into making the mold and pouring the iron.

Thanks. I originally bought it as a rescue project. Loved the primitive "12" on the bottom and the hollowed out handle on the top. Hadn't seen that before.

Just the standard electrolysis learned from the folks here. I could tell that the cooking surface wasn't terrible (given its age) by how even the surface rust was. I was more worried about the bottom (even though it had less), but it turned out fine.
