Thanks for posting that Ed. Never seen a rural post box other than a catalog. Interesting spelling....-"indestructable"

Hello Ed. You got a good memory. That was almost ten years ago. I remember it well. And it brought a good price too cause I helped it out. It brought over fifteen hundred dollars. Thats the only one I have have ever seen also. And yes Jim it is in one of the catalogs, but I forget which one. Ed as we get older we forget a lot. So when you drag out something like this and dust it off and we all get to take another look at it I feel like a puppy who has just found a long lost toy and glad to see it again. Thanks Ed. What else you got in that bad Ed? I remember about pictures, and folks saying they saved this picture or that picture. And I was wondering, 'how do they do that'? :-/ ;D ;D

Found the flash drive with pics from old computer, thought I'd throw a few out there. Your right Perry it brought $2250. If they where "indestructible" we'd see more of them. I wondered of the spelling too. lol.. If I find any I'll let you know.

Where would a box like this be used, It is cast iron so if placed outside it would eventually rust, just curious but what was the purpose of this box

It is a rural mail box that was sold with an angle iron post. Came in three finishes, aluminum bronze finish, white paint, black japan finish. Post had black japan finish. Probably last longer than the sheet steel mail boxes, but yes eventually it would rust out if no maintenance was done.  They were guaranteed to last a life time.
