Good Health WI base markings
« on: June 01, 2015, 09:34:05 PM »
A while ago, I found this Good Health Waffle Iron with a high base.  The one in the blue book (pg 91 of the 5th edition) is photographed from 12 o'clock high, which makes it hard to say, but it looks more like a low base than a high one.  I realize that both bases were usually available, and the height was a gas burner adaptation.  The only markings on this high base, though, is the p/n 393.  The base doesn't say "Good Health" or "Griswold Mfg. Co." or anything else other than "393."  I don't suspect that it's any kind of mismatch -- 393 is in the ballpark for this piece, considering tha the paddles are 395.  But, I also know that sometimes skillets and dutch ovens that are printed with "Good Health" can also occasionally be found in unmarked versions, with just pattern numbers and size numbers.  That makes me wonder if the 393 high base or its low-base sibling, probably the 398, were ever marked "Good Health" or not.

My question, then, is this:  Does anybody know what kind of markings are on the underside of the low base for a Good Health waffle iron?  Are there two versions, one of which says "Good Health" and one of which is unmarked save for a pattern number, or were all of the Good Health waffle iron bases marked with a p/n only?

By the way, this high base is definately not marked with a 398.  393 isn't listed as a pattern number for a waffle iron base in the back of the blue book; I guess it's just one of the gaps.

Thanks for any info.

Low base I have marked p/n 398. No other markings. Never seen a base marked Good Health.  Good find there Adam.
Gray Iron-- Old as antiquity, new as tomorrow.
