Everyone Loves a Garage Sale
« on: July 18, 2015, 11:11:13 AM »
Well, I guess I collect John Wright now.
The woman running the sale said she wanted everyone happy, so these pans, which are in immaculate condition, were $1 each. At least the dinosaur pan will have some company now.

The sea shell pan is from 1989. It is rather rough. The flower pan is from 1991, and it is very smooth, more so than the Lodge gem pans I have.
No lye or electro for these. The dinosaur pan taught me that. A soapy cleaning and seasoning with coconut oil ought to do it.

They look nice--no lye or electro needed. On other hand, you learned something from the dino pan--what happened?

Here is the thread about my dinosaur pan trials and tribulations:

Other folks added a lot of good comments as well as more JW info and photos.

The bottom line is that many of the pans have a proprietary coating. Scrubbing with plastic bristled brushes and very soapy water seems to be the best cleaning method for the coated pans. The dinosaur pan bakes a mean muffin now, and it looks quite nice.

Quite a saga! Believe I'll steer clear of these bad boys entirely!
