I think I’ve seen it all now...
« on: May 19, 2017, 07:54:41 AM »
For those who don’t feel cooking with cast iron provides a viable source of iron in your diet, you can now buy a lucky cast iron fish. It’s made by a Canadian foundry, and it’s scientifically formulated to provide a reliable source of iron in your diet. Just throw it into whatever you are cooking. Throw away all your rusting cast iron cookware that provides an inconsistent, unreliable source of iron in your diet. Use this rusty fish instead.
Only $25 USD. Get yours today.

Well, maybe if it was on an infomercial late at night and you could get 2 for $19.99 (plus shipping & handling), I would consider it. But I only paid $4.99 for my Lodge 8SK. Twenty-five bucks is kinda steep for only one. Looks like I’m sticking with the old rusty pots and pans. So much for that technologically higher life we all seek to achieve.

I think the normal diet provides more than an adequate source of iron for the average person and even those that are slightly anemic.

From the Mayo Clinic

Foods rich in iron include:

Red meat, pork and poultry
Seafood
Beans
Dark green leafy vegetables, such as spinach
Dried fruit, such as raisins and apricots
Iron-fortified cereals, breads and pastas
Peas

I'm not going to be alive in 100 years,50 years or probably 20 years so I'll stick with buying the already desirable iron like Griswold.Wagner,Favorite,Lodge etc :D

Why does it cost so much? It is because it is the LUCKY Iron Fish, they are harder to catch. ;D
