Bought a Griswold large logo skillet and the lid was thrown in. Really only wanted the skillet but of course I took the lid and because of the drip circles I was pretty sure it was a Griswold lid.
After doing a little research based on the patent date, drip rings, and handle I was fairly sure it was a Dutch oven lid made by Griswold under the Puritan brand.
After that I noticed two things. One is that the p/n number was no where to be found. I looked in The Book of Griswold & Wagner and there is no 481. I found 479, 482, 491 & 494 which are all No. 9 either Puritan or unmarked Dutch Oven covers. No 481 than I can find anywhere.
Then I noticed all the other No. 9 covers have 3 drip rings and this lid has only two. Also the size is consistent with a No. 8 lid.
I have been all over the Internet on a number of sites and I cannot find this lid. Any help would be appreciated.
I am new to the forum and am looking forward to the cast iron experience. I currently am cleaning and restoring some large logo Griswold's, a Griswold's Erie and just purchased a "Erie" No. 12 skillet. I really like to clean and season the older ones.
