GRISWOLD CATALOG #45 - 1912 to 1915 and Griswold Bulletin No. A6

     Amazing WAGS member, Jim Fuchs has done it again!  He has managed to find a Griswold Catalog 45 in the public domain, so Jim and WAGS would like to share this wonderful find with everyone.   This Griswold Catalog had been available as a reprint, but is no longer available, and the original was destroyed in the making of the reprint. (way back when)

Here is Jim's description of this 141 page catalog.

"I would say, with the Bulletins inside, date range on Cat 45 would be about 1912 to 1915. 
Catalog 46 was introduced in 1916, so that would be a close range.
I should say production of a fair amount of the items were discontinued by 1915..."

An amazing find, all 141 pages! and I will certainly be printing this one to add to my collection.  Another Griswold 'hole' filled in for Me!

Thank you Jim.  There is a lot of interesting stuff in that catalog.  Like the wide-band 8016 and 8017 gem pans along with their cast iron counterparts.  The catalog didn't show a 8015 . . . was a No. 15 made in aluminum?

I suspect that this catalog was issued on or before September 1, 1911.  The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, where the PDF of this catalog came from, also has a Bulletin A6, with an issue date of September 1, 1911.  The library has both Catalog 45 and Bulletin A6, so I would imagine they were acquired at the same time and were probably together since they were sent out by Griswold's sales department.  Also, I doubt that Bulletin A6 would have predated Bulletin A5.  Bulletin A6 includes the "new safety kettle" which also would suggest A6 came out after A5.

You are welcome Jeff. Agree with the A-6...more than likely released after Cat. 45 was issued, that's why we used the words "about". The 1915 date would be the ending date, as I have an article that state Cat. 46 was available in 1915 (May). Hard to track some of these catalogs. I have some that run about 2 yrs (on the dates) in Bulletins, and others have three plus years of Bulletins with different dates.
       The 15 in Aluminum, I am not sure of  (don't know that they made that). I would have to go look at my catalogs. I know, for example, that even on the skillets, the slant/Erie 2, 3, 4, 13, 14 were released at different times. The 3 &4 were after Cat. 45, then the 2, etc...so some show in some years, but not all.
        This is just to give an example of what kind of data WAGS has available on the membership side. Many members have given to our data base to make it what it is today. The largest, most complete data base on foundries available, anywhere.  :)
