Valerie, I have also tried the Aldi brand. The first few jars were just as good as Hellmans and much cheaper, like you said. But, a few months later and it tasted completely different with a different texture too. More like Kraft which I don't like. I wondered if they changed the company who makes it for them.

We first tried Burmanns in 2005-6 and have been using it ever since, I can't say we have ever noticed a change in texture or taste, A lot of the Aldi products in my opinion are just as good if not better than many name brands and the price is so much better, We used to have to travel 25 miles to an Aldi now we have a store that is less than 10 miles away.
If you like Cherios I recommend the Aldi brand
