Fine spring weather
« on: January 15, 2024, 06:06:03 PM »
How's things with you, Duke?  I am enjoying a fine cloudy day in the middle to upper twenties with occasional ice flurries.  I know that you and other people north and west of me have it a lot worse than me, and I wish them the best.  See you on the other side, WAGS.

Lee, Except for a 15 degree temp over night, we had it a LOT BETTER than we had figured on :vrolijk_26: A few signs of sleet but that was about it as far as ice. Got up to 26 today. Here at 8:00pm it's 20 and no wind. Predicting 13 degrees in the morning. Guess this is our "Killing Freeze" GREAT day to sleep!

It's a balmy 19 with a pretty stiff breeze and partly sunny. Mindie whipped up a small batch of gumbo last night, should be a fine breakfast.  I'll be starting a pot of venison chili in a little bit.  Stay warm, all.

Feel sorry for the poor folks up North with temps. like -38!

Makes my 17 this morning almost negligible.  My sister-in-law in Indiana was at -6 two days ago.  She was in the process of putting a second blanket on her horses, and making sure that all her cats were in the garage.  The good news is that the greenhorns and fools on TV say it will be in the mid to upper 40s today.

Yesterday was the first time we climbed above 4 degrees in several days. -30 windchill is pretty extreme here in Ks.

Craig, I feel for you.  I remember the two winters (87-89) I was in Nashville area.  Never quite reached sub-zero, but there were numerous stretches that were in the single digits with several inches of snow/ice on the roads.  This is as cold as I want to experience.  My water just now started running again, been froze up since Monday about dark. Dry cold or wet, it's still cold.
