What to do with a plated piece
« on: November 14, 2024, 12:08:37 PM »
I have a Griswold 14 with lid that's plated.  It was used over open fires.  Any suggestions on cleaning/restoring?  All replies appreciated.

Steve, I process my plated (previously used for cooking) items in the lye bath with a gentle wash down with non abrasive sponges.

Then I assess for  possible 'rust'.

If condition appears to be good to excellent, I would recommend using Evaporust to insure that any break through rust is handled gently and quickly.

Full and complete submersion with no air pockets is always important when using Evapo....

Hope this helps!
