First Winter Storm for Texas
« on: January 09, 2025, 09:26:25 AM »
So, Duke, how bad is it in your neck of the woods? The fools on Channel 2 say that we will only get cold rain, and all the ice and snow will drop down to about Tyler.  A light rain has commenced here, with more to come.

Y'all are lucky that central Kansas sucked most of the bitter cold and snow from this storm before letting it proceed your direction.
You are welcome.

Best regards, Craig.  And many thanks for running interference on the storm headed my/our way.  We will both be needing some of this excess precipitation in a few months, and most likely some of the cooling effect on our July/August heat waves.

I’m in Longview and all the schools were closed for the “storm” and it rained all day. Streets are fine so far but cold and wet! Chili tomorrow…

Rain set in seriously around 5 and lasted most of the night, temp at 34 as I type.  Livingston was only school in session in Polk County yesterday, and will  be happening today.  Hope no one was too adversely affected by this system, but it could have been a lot worse.

Little before 8am here and cloudy with a strong north wind but no ice or snow. We dodged it thank the Lord! Let us all pray for the folks around Los Angeles. That is nearly beyond the imagination!

So very thankful that it stayed about 32-34 through all of this. I dumped 1 1/2” out of the gauge this afternoon. What would 1 1/2” of ice done if it had stayed in the mid 20’s?

I agree Duke, all this snow and rain would have helped the situation on LA, which continues to be tragic as it unfolds.
