BSR Franklin Bean Pot
« on: July 19, 2022, 07:47:59 AM »
If you have never seen a BSR Franklin Bean Pot, here’s your chance. The auction lists a nice set of photos, so you can see the entire pot and lid. It is interesting to note that the hole in the tab handle of this one is off-center. This item was an option you could have included if you bought a BSR Franklin Stove circa 1970.

The FBP is an excellent choice for a small batch of pintos, say about a pound of beans and 2-3 pounds of various smoked meats, an onion and some water.  Served with a pone of corn bread, a complete meal.

I must have been sleepin' last July...

The picture above is a Flat Bottom Pot (FBP)

The Franklin Bean Pot has legs...

And different bail ears.

My bad. When I see an item marked FBP (which the original photo is), I think Franklin Bean Pot, not Flat Bottom pot. So the actual bean pot bottom is unmarked, only the top is marked with RB?

Russell, yes the lid is marked... RB 2778.

PS... I think if I dug around a bit it is likely that they may have used the lid/pattern for the Round Bottom Pot when they made the Franklin Bean Pot.

While the Round Bottom Pot is not shown in 1966, it did 'appear' in the early 1970's.... Still have a large gap in catalogs from 1954 to 1966....

Very few folks realize that even the Round Bottom POT appears to be a newer item, 60's/70's....
During the Red Mountain eras they were called "Straight" pots with very different bail ears shown.
