Cheryl, I worked in construction for more than 40 years and know a thing or two about pressure treated lumber. NEVER use ground treated lumber in association with anything to do with food. And NEVER burn the stuff in a fireplace or camp fire. None of it is worth the risks.

Ken, that is what I was thinking also.

I would never even let the kids sit on our rear deck planking with bare skin exposed that could contact the lumber.

But I may run out and get a standard, untreated length of 4x4 to try it!
(at least the guys at Home Depot will cut it into the lengths I want and I won't have to dig out the circular saw....  :) )
