clean an unused Griswold skillet???
« on: January 27, 2015, 09:34:19 AM »
so,  I bought this unused Griswold #8 large logo smooth bottom skillet.    the inside looks almost chrome, but it is not.   the outside is grey iron.  my question........there are a few spots on the inside.   not rust.  almost like a drop of something liquid dropped here or there.  would it be safe to use  steel wool to try to rub those spots off?   you can still see a little of the sticker residue,  and I want to leave that alone.   or should I leave it all alone?? :-/ :-/ :-/

Hi Marge, I'm curious why you would want to leave the sticker residue alone. What are your plans for this pan? And was it ever seasoned?

never seasoned.  thought the little dab of sticker residue  might make it more "authentic".   probably will try to sell it.

Ah, I see. I would let the buyer clean it then. I'm sure it will clean up nice if they know what they're doing. What do you think you'd want for it?
