Sometimes Taking A Chance Pays Off
« on: May 12, 2019, 09:16:08 AM »
The water skillet looked fine on the outside, but as you can see, the inside looks like it was used as a planter. The seller had the mis-matched lid sitting on it, and sold them both for one price. I needed a good cleaning challenge this year, so I took up the seller's offer.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well they both cleaned up. For the price, I thought the lid would be a throw away, and the water skillet would be worth the price. Once the lid went through electrolysis, markings that were not apparent suddenly became obvious.
How many BSR #6 lids have you seen?
The water skillet has a raised #3 on the handle and a gate mark on the bottom.

Interesting that the lid handle has a style similar to an old Lodge.  Didn't know that about BSR lids, but I never collected them either.

Great job!

My mom has a BSR pot and matching #6 lid. I keep trying to come home with it, but that’s one she won’t give up. She uses it to make her pot roast.

That water skillet is amazing, Russell that's nice! I also have the same lid. I believe it fits a sauce pan as well.

My mom fell and broke her hip on Tuesday. I came over to help out. While I was at her house I took this pictures of her #6. As I stated above, she won’t part with it because, she says, she still makes pot roast in it. As you can see in the pictures ... she hasn’t made pot roast in years. Haha!

I didn’t get a good picture of the underlined 6. It is kinda hidden up under the handle.
