Griswold Slant Logo #16 Griddle 743A
« on: September 16, 2017, 09:37:11 PM »
While Antiquing in MI today (looking for Iron), I nearly passed out when I saw a #16 Griswold slant logo griddle.

Here are some pictures:

I am curious and want to know:
- What people think it's worth
- How old it is

The antique mall was having a sale, this particular booth was asking $110 at 15% off so I got it for $93.50.

How do you all think I did?

Thanks in advance,

Freddo

I'd say your piece is worth the one hundred dollars you spent on it. And its in near excellent condition. I'd say the cooking surface is in near mint condition. As collectibles go these pieces are not a bell ringer. Still, they are nice and I like them so I thought I'd give you my opinion here. Best of luck to you and thanks for dropping by and saying hello.  :)

 • I don't collect waffle irons; they just show up.

I don't see a whole lot of good #16 griddles around; neither the 743s nor the 619s.  I think it's worth all of $100 and maybe more, provided it wasn't chipped or cracked.  But from your photos, it doesn't seem to have been either.  And the bail looks very nice -- often they're all bent up.

Age?  Let's throw a dart at 1920 and see if it sticks, shall we?

Well that makes me feel great about getting mine for $10, not in as great as shape as yours, but not cracked, and the rust is surface, plus its flat!  Great find, congrats!

If there's no chipped rim and no crack, and you've already said that there isn't, then you really lucked out at $10 for that piece, I'd say.  Nice find.

Definitely worth cleaning the rust off.
