Lid for WW Fat Free Skillet
« on: July 13, 2003, 01:02:04 PM »
Does anyone know what size lid will fit (reasonably well) a Wagner Ware Fat Free Skillet?

The Griswold #9 is close, but slightly too large. The only comparison I have is a #7. The Griswold is slightly larger than the Wagner counterpart I have.

Thanks - TC

Looks like the Wagner p/n1081 lid is going to be the closest fit. Does anyone have one they can measure for me? The inside dimension of the FF Fryer is 10 11/16".

Thanks - TC

Thomas,

Fat free skillet?   My brain isn't working.

You talk about the 1081 lid.   Don't have books around.   Is that the lid for the 1088 deep skillet.   If so,   I have that lid.   But the darn lid don't fit the 1088 skillet that I have.   I have heard that the earlier 1088 is what it fits.   And that is harder to find.   I have the latter 1088.

Now to find the 1081 lid???    Where did it go.   TOO MUCH CAST IRON!!!    Got to stop.

Fat free skillet?   My brain isn't working.

It's on page 241 of the Blue Book. The one on the left.  Inside the rim measures 10 11/16". From what I am able to tell from the "Books" the 1081 lid that fits the 1088 #8 Deep Skillet has the dimensions I need to fit the Fat Free Fryer. A regular #9 lid (1069) might be close too, but having neither I was hoping someone could give me a measurement outside the lid rim to see if it fits inside the FFF.

Maybe you ain't supposed to use the FFF with a lid... but I want to! ;D

A wagner aluminum #9 lid is10 11/16 to the out side of the lip ring so you may be able to use one of them, the one I have is a #a509 that I measured. just a thought

Thanks Joseph! That's a big help.

Now I assume, presume or just generally believe the aluminum lids and cast iron lids are the same dimensions?

I hate to keep beating this horse, but I don't want to be buying a bunch of iron I don't need. On the other hand, if I did buy a bunch of lids that don't fit then I'll have to buy the skillets that do. That would be more fun though wouldn't it?

another thought if the fat free fryer dos'nt have the pouring spouts you might try a dutch oven cover , I just measured a griswold #9 dutch oven and it is 10 11/16 to so if you have one you can try it.

Right you are Joseph, I have one of those and it fits nicely. I could/would use it. Just thought it would be fun to have a Wagner that fit it.

Now wouldn't that be a project!!!  Make a list of interchangeable parts for cast iron.  What gidgets fit other gidgets and gadgets, even thought they don't belong together.

Hey! That's about how I run my collection! ;D

I would be glad to do it... provided I get enough donations to buy all that stuff to see if it really fits! ;D

Boys and Girls I am now the proud owner of a very nice #9 Wagner Drip Drop Skillet Lid. Guess what? I doesn't fit the Fat Free Fryer. It is very slightly too large. Fits a Griswold #9 skillet perfectly.

I saw a National lid on eBay but it was plated and I passed. I think (did I read it on the forum?) that the Nationals are slightly smaller than the regular Wagners.

Ah well, the search continues. Now I'm also looking for an older Wagner #9 skillet to go under that lid. This is so much fun! ;D

Thom,
The Aluminum Wagner lids are not the same size as the Wagner Iron ones. I got a set assuming that they were and thought that they would be great users do to the weight issues...the only lid that would work on the iron skillet was the #8 the 7, 9.10, aluminum lids won't fit the coresponding iron skillets

Re-measured the Fat Free Fryer. It's 10 3/4" inside the rim. Must have misread the tape when I said 10 11/16.

The #9 Wagner p/n1069 is 10 7/8" outside the rim that fits down in the skillet. So we're down to a 8th too big.

Jerry, if the measurement (11 1/4") on that lid is the overall diamenter (excluding the pour spour covers) then it might be close. I'll email the seller and ask them to measure the rim. Thanks for pointing this one out.

The quest continues:

Reply from seller: "The diameter is just over 10 3/4" and measured around it is 35".  Hope this helps!"

Thanks Joe for the info on the aluminum. There's got to be an iron one out there. And Ah'm a gonna find it! ;D

If anyone is still interested: The Wagner 1081 lid fits the Wagner Fat Free Fryer, albeit not perfectly, but it's within an eighth.

Item #1 for the What Fits What Page? ;D
