Griswold broiler
« on: August 17, 2003, 03:54:50 PM »
on page 157 of the BLUE book there is a Griswold double broiler but it lists it as not have a p/n.  Has anyone seen any with a p/n?  Blue book says circa 1890-1910

I have one that I just cleaned the bottom (not the top, it's in the E bath) and it has the p/n 878, which is listed in the back as the bottom for the broiler.  I have another broiler that is not marked with a p/n.

Greg, I have seen at least two of these broilers with the PN, at least one on e-bay and one in a collection.  Blue book pattern list gives the PN's for this piece as 878 and 880.

yeap those are the numbers, but the numbers were only in the back, so that's why I didn't see them, as they are not listed with the pix.  Thought I had something, oh well.

Greetings Greg:  I have been away and just read your message.  I have the broiler shown on page 157 which you speak of.  It is the same broiler shown in the drawing.  I had talked to Dave Smith some time ago and told him I would send him a photo of same when I acquire a camera.  I now have a camera and hope to get the time to do something this winter.  I will send you a photo of same and hopefully for all to see.  I had talked to Cast Iron Chuck a few years ago about this broiler and he said he had seen one quite a few years ago and knew of what I spoke.  My broiler is marked Erie in quotes on top of the top handle below the pin hole and there are no pattern #'s.  The grid scheme is the same as the one in the drawing and different than the 2 varietys I normally see.  Talk later.  George V
