Dutch Oven - Number on cover...
« on: October 29, 2004, 08:49:06 PM »
I saw a dutch oven today, camp oven more appropriately.  Lipped cover, three legs, not great cast but not bad - might be a good user.  All I could see marked on it was the number '12' embossed on the lid.  The bottom was cruddy but I didn't see any 'made in Japan' or anything, not to say that it wasn't there if cleaned up.  Any idea of possible manufactures?  Thanks in advance...

Jeff, could be most anybody, but late stuff probably; high probability is Lodge but could be Asian....Picture would sure help.

Thanks Paul...I'm thinking the same thing.  I looked over the Lodge pieces out on E-bay and the lid looks just the same number-wise.  It doesn't have the 'LODGE' above it, but has the same square look to the body.  Are there any example pictures of the older lodges out there somewhere a guy could puruse?

None I know of but Troy may know of some. Early Lodge wasn't much into marking and you pretty much only see the number and some times a couple letters and maybe a made in USA.  It's only been in the last maybe 20 years that Lodge has gotten creative with their markings.

And a happy birthday Jeff  [smiley=clap.gif]....Don't give up as there is life after 50!!

All the above.

Working two full time jobs. One to pay for my addiction and one to house it. LOL. Saturday was also the first day of black powder here and Greg is some where just west of me. my timing sucks  [smiley=crying1.gif]

I will be lurking around just not as active as normal. Some might think that is a blessing.  The good news is we start framing next week, two full weeks ahead of schedule. Well, that's if the framing package shows up in time, and the weather holds out and the etc, etc, etc,
