New No 11 variation or different manufacturer?
« on: January 01, 2005, 12:10:26 PM »
I ran into something in the store the other day and thought it was just probably another of the numerous No 11 variations in Haussler's book.  When I got home to look it up, I realized it wasn't there.

Describing the piece, it is pretty much like Variation 3 but without the "N", "E", and "S" on the first three tabs.  The "No" and "11" are there, very crisp molding, and there was no indication of a weak strike or filled mold for those missing "N", "E" or "S".  No other markings on the pan, but the molding and finish was constitent with Griswold.

I am sure the piece will be there tomorrow so I might go pick it up.  But, just wondered if anyone ran into a similar variation?

There still may be some variations not yet found or listed in Haussler's book.  If the handles, top and bottom, are identical to a Griswold pan it likely is.  If there is a "D" on a bottom cup it would be a Wagner.  Hard to say much more without seeing the pan but check the dimensions if you can against a known Griswold variation along with the small details.  They should match exactly or almost exactly.

I recently acquired a N.E.S. pan that was not in Hausslers book. Almost like variation 5 it has the number 11 upside down instead of the No. I have no doubt it is a Griswold as the casting quality and size is consistent with others I have.
