Sidney skillet

I don't see this listed in my books.  Can anyone tell me the age, and if this is a Wagner piece or not?

My thoughts on this pan:  Definitely Wagner.  Possibly made in the Sidney Hollow Ware foundry.  However, by the time this pan appeared (or any No.3's were made) I believe the Sidney Hollow Ware plant had been sold back to Phillip Smith.  (Any relation, Dave?).  More likely, I think, is that it is an unbranded Wagner made to compete with lesser quality pieces giving Wagner another area to compete in.  You will notice the pan looks just like the branded Wagner one but with the WAGNER removed.

Note for Greg; can you PLEASE remove, or place at "attention" all those extremely annoying moving smilies that have recently appeared on the "post" page?  I wouldn't be so rude to wave in your face when you were trying to type at the computer.    I could sure use a little pleace and quite here while I am thinking and posting.  Perhaps there is a way to get rid of them on MY computer only so all those who love them can still cohort with them.

What animated images Steve?  ??? Try a Netscape browser. You can turn off animated images and other annoyances like popups, etc.

I used Netscape and IE several years ago on my old iMac but have been using only IE on this one.  Too involved with IE at this point to switch over; all those favorites and all that stuff.  Maybe there's a way to switch them over but I don't need more to do now.  Thanks for the suggestion TC.

Those moving smilies weren't there last week so don't know what they add to this site today.  Just an annoyance that I can deal with some way.

Roger,

If I remember correctly, this style of skillet is in the new reprint that is available to WAGS members.  This new reprint (NO ONE outside of WAGS has it) was mentioned for sale in the last WAGS newsletter.

Clark,
It is the new Sidney Ware reprint that was mentioned in the newsletter.  I don't have the newsletter here, but I believe it was something like $10-12 plus a couple for shipping and it was to Dave Smith's address has he is holding/selling/shipping them out on behalf of WAGS

It's a Sidney Hollow Ware Catalog No.20, 6" x 9", 56 pages.

$10. plus $2 shipping for WAGS members (only??-better check before ordering if you are not a club member).

Make check payable to WAGS and send order to

WAGS catalog
PO Box 247
Perrysburg, NY 14129

My order went out several days ago.  Building up a catalog and book library is a good thing.  These catalogs don't always stay available so, if you think you might want one, get it ordered now.  I buy almost every Griswold and Wagner catalog that come available and refer to them very often.  The more catalogs you have the more information you can get from them.

At this point in time this reprint is ONLY available to WAGS members at this special price.  We will open up the market to non-WAGS members after WAGS members get a chance to buy the copies.  Then the Catalogue will be availalbe for sale to the general public (non-WAGS members) but the price will be considerably higher.

Yet another reason to join WAGS, save money on reprints!!
