Griswold Wafer Iron
« on: January 17, 2005, 02:48:55 PM »
I finally found a nice complete wafer iron.  While rooting through my stuff to make sure I had the nicest combination possible, I found two distincet sets of button hinge paddles.

One set is like that pictured in the blue book, with the handled attached to cast bosses, the other set had the handled riveted through the iron.  Both have the pattern numbers 895 and 995.  Both have the same inscriptons, in the same script style.

Which came first?  I suspect the riveted one is first and the change was made for esthetic purposes.  And is there a reason the two varieties mentioned?

Tom,
I have both sets too.  IMO, the riveted came first.
