Did Griswold ever make the Iron Mountain deep skillet with the name "Chicken Fryer" on the bottom instead of "Chicken Pan"?

Does the skillet have a pattern number?  Also, the writing does not look crisp and clear like an Iron Mountain should be.

I'm waiting on an answer about the pattern number on the skillet and a heat ring.  The lid does have #1035 on it.  I am not totally sure about a heat ring from this picture I received.  An interesting mystery  [smiley=unsure.gif]

I saw one that was identical to this about 2 years ago.  
They wanted like $80.00 for it.   Had the same IM handle.   Was not bad.   But it was a recast.   Jenny remembers where better than I do.

I'm not saying it isn't IM, but that doesn't look like the font that was used on those pieces.  If it doesn't have a part number, maybe a pan copied by another foundry using an IM as a pattern with a genuine lid? [smiley=scratchhead.gif]

No John, I didnt ask for a pic.  And I dont understand someone reproducing the Chicken Pan with Chicken Fryer on it like the one offered to me I posted pictures of, and have a #1035 Iron Mtn cover with it?....why didnt whoever it was make a cover too?.... [smiley=unsure.gif]

I don't understand why if it is real it doesn't have a part number and writing like the other iron mountain does.  Who knows, maybe it will turn up in a catalog or something.  It doesn't look like a recast.  Very interesting pan I had not paid much attention to until it was posted here.  Thanks for posting Jerry.

Why should they have made a special lid, when any number 8 lid, plain or not, fits the IM?

The #8 skillet cover and DO cover are the only ones I've seen for I/M. If you're going to make a different series of skillets you should make covers to go with it. They did for Best Made and Puritan. Maybe Merit? I'm not sure on that one.  John M. will know.

Perry, if they had made plain unmarked lids for all the Iron Mountain line, I suppose it would have been for the same reason they made the Iron Mountain "unmarked with Griswold" skillets to begin with?  I dont suppose we will ever know why they only made one for the Chicken Pan?

I've never seen or heard of any other size lids and was just curious.

John, would the low smooth top covers like your talking about have the broken basting rings and the raised letter size on top like the Iron Mountain 1035 chicken pan cover?.....or is the #1035 the only Iron Mountain lid you know of?

John,Thanks for the info on the IM line. Just seen a Merit skillet last weekend can't remember size or $$. I'll keep an eye out for Merit covers. We're going seaching this weekend. Also picked up a Best Made S.R. Co. #10 skillet and Best Made #9 skillet with no S.R. Co. The #9 weighs more than the #10. Later production on the #9, I guess?
