Was this used for cooking eggs? The only marking on it is a #8 on handle.

That's an aebleskiver pan.  Check the recipie section, but be warned.  Those things add 10 pounds to you just from looking at them.LOL  ;D

Hi Julie,
That pan is also known as an Aebleskiver or Danish apple cake pan.  Marty Zielke has a killer recipe for them in the WAGS cookbook section under bread and muffins.  Be very careful though, they are very addictive.  By the way, that is a nice ladle in your picture.....what kind is it??

Don't make any of them, they are more addictive than cast iron.  Marty has a KILLER recipe.

I had noted that recipe and everyone's comments on how good they are, much better sounding than poached eggs. I will have to go back and see if I can find some more interesting stuff.

take our word for it, don't sell that aebleskiver pan, clean it up and just use it.  You'll be the hit of any party or get together with several dozen of these.  My kids ask for them every weekend and they like raspberry or strawberry jelly in the middle.  I'm gonna try CB's suggestion of apple slices with sugar and nutmeg and cinnamon to make small apple pie like aebleskivers.

my mom is cleaning it in the solution now, so will try them this weekend. I was surprised that that piece was not in the section with my dad's other kitchen cast iron, he had it with an old stove that it fit right in the ring. Looked pretty neat, but I found another lid for the stove. I don't have much willpower so I will probably hate myself once I start on these.

Julie,
Don't say you weren't warned....They are excellent as suggested with the small slivers of apple.  I just put the apples in a small bowl and sprinkled cinnamon and surgar on them and stirred them up, set next to the pan.  A pair of chop sticks work for turning them over.  I haven't got it down to one hand yet like Marty though.  They are also very good with lingonberry jam on them also.  Enjoy enjoy

PS...the cook hardly gets to eat because the others eat them soooo fast.  Save some for yourself.

Do you put this on the burner of your electric stove or in the oven? I think there should be a remedial site for first time users.
