Remember this one Perry?
« on: February 02, 2009, 09:43:32 PM »
It was one of my first pieces. I originally cleaned it with electro, and a brass brush. BIG no no on the brass brush. Well, I dunked it in the electro again yesterday, spent a good 2 hours getting all the brass off this morning, and ran it through a Crisco seasoning about 6 times. Finally got it right. I think  :-/ Remember this old pic?

Here's my first attempt at getting it clean. Looks better but notice all the yellow / brassy layer left from the brass brush.

Hello Chuck, yes, I remember that piece very well. You have been a good student.  ;) She looks marvelous.

I remember when you talked about being up in the top of a tree and cutting the top off and how it whipsawed you back and forth, and how you better hold on for the ride of  a lifetime.  ;D

AAAH Yes. That is definitley some real fun times when ya top a 50 footer at 30 feet. Like ridin' a bull.  ;D . I've gone through all of my early seasoning attempts, and did them all over again. I forget who it was that told me about the brass brush. I'm glad they did. It's only SS for me now. I'm doing my last 5 pieces of the 35 that we pick up 2 weekends ago. I think there may be more come this weekend.  :)  :)  :) Just finished seasoning a hammered finish #8 skillet and lid. Just an educated guess but I think it's unmark Wagner. Also did a skillet lid. Absolutley no marking on it but it is as smooth as a babies bottom on the inside, so I'm, thinkin' it is a quality piece. I'll have to get some pics and post em.
