Do you find that the numbers on the handle don't mean much? Mine says 11 inch, and is less than 10.

true chris  mine also..measuring the inside of the skillet mine needs a 9 3/4  for the 11  a 11 1/2 for the 12  and a 9 1/2 for the old 3 legged dutch oven..jimmy

11 1/2" sounds right for the 12 inch mark.
 
My 11 inch marked one is also 9 3/4 on the inside.
That don't seem right.

It's nice to see that the size craziness started early. These are both #12's The bottom is a Lodge, the upper is a Martin.

  It's one thing if it just has a size number, what gets me is when it says "11 inch", and it's only 10. :-?

Here are two more 11 inch spiders, the top one is shallower and about an inch in diameter larger. The bottom one is like Jimmy’s, except it also has a 2 ˝. A #8 dutch oven lid fits on the bottom one perfectly.

The inside diameter of the one marked 2 ˝ is exactly 10 inches. I've used it with a BS&R #8 dutch oven lid to cook chicken outdoors.
