I stopped into a long-established antiques store in a local artsy-antiquey town that in recent years has become something more of a high-end tourist trap (we locals call it "No Hope," if that gives you a clue to where I'm talking about). In a back corner of the very crowded shop I found this nice #7 deep long pan with a single gate mark and pour spout, and numbered on top of both handles. I know these were also used as sad iron heaters, but I understand they were also used for cooking. I'm guessing it was originally sold with a stove as part of the "furniture". The shop owner sold it to me for $15, and I went home very happy and a bit shocked that I got such a good deal. :o :D
It sits nice and flat, with no cracks or pitting and no serious rust. At some point in the past it was used as a candle base. Some of the wax drips are still present.
I have no idea yet what I'll use it for, aside from hanging it up and admiring it. ;)
