Now Look What I've Done.......
« on: October 31, 2013, 12:28:46 AM »
For two+ years I resisted the urge..... Sunday I lost the battle and came home with one.... ::) ::)

I think it's a 4 qt... Enterprise, and has all the parts.  Small plate, large plate, strainer plate, perforated basket insert........  now for the restoration... :(  I'm sure I'll be hollerin' for help! :D)

Nice looking sausage stuffer! That should clean up really well. If you detail the lettering, they come out looking really spiffy. I think there's supposed to be a tin tube that fits in the spigot, as well.

Do you want another? I know where there are at least a dozen more. Please! Save me from stubbing my toes on them!

Anyone?

Frank, I DO have the tin/brass tube... just didn't take a pic of it!

I think I'll just stick with this one for now!  The japanning is shot, so need to strip and repaint, and...<sigh>.... everything.

Biggest challenge currently is trying to remove the large plate from the center spindle... so far no luck! :P

Cheryl, I'd try soaking it with PB Blaster for a few days first. After you spray it, tap on it with the handle of a screwdriver for a minute or so - the vibrations will help it penetrate the rust. It will come off!

Since you have it clamped, you could also try putting a strap wrench around the edge of the plate and putting some pressure on it as you tap. That may help crack it free too.

Frank, have already done the above... :)
Liquid Wrench, Deep Creep Seafoam... will go out and hit it with PB Blaster next.  Hadn't progressed to the strap wrench yet... getting there.. ;) Now if only I had some KROIL!!!

These came in sizes two quart, four quart, six quart, and eight quart. The stuffer tubes and the stuffer nut all fit each other. The six quart and eight quart take the same size plates because they are the same diameter. They all have different strainer baskets. So the two and four quart size have their own plates. Just some info that I have posted before. I have a set of these and of course a couple extra. I like the little two quart size. These sure are real machines and they work as good as the day they were made. You can still buy new replacement parts for them. A company called Chop-Rite bought them out. But they don't make all the four sizes, not sure which size they do make but know they still make the eight quart size.

Perry, mine is a #2071 (on the bottom of the body), top piece is #2070, No. 25 Large Plate, is 2078, No. 25 Small Plate is 2079.
Is this a 4 Quart? (I have no clue, since this is my first one.... and it's alllll YOUR fault for making me want one!! :D)

Hello Cheryl, OH YES, blame it all on me.  ;D

Yes yours is a four quart size. I don't much blame you though. You hardly ever see these with all the pieces. So if I seen it and the price was right, even with what I have, I'd have bought it too. I was at a flea market this summer and got an extra small plate for the four quart size for two dollars. Why I bought it, I don't know, I sure did not NEED it.  :-/

If the 8 quart had all of its pieces, for 95.00, thats very cheap. And for 15.00 I sure don't blame you, you STOLE that.  :o

That I'd toss out an FYI . Kroil is 1 of thee top rust penetrants that you can get , but there is a home mix that you can do that beats Kroil for the #1 spot . It's a simple mixture of Acetone & Transmission fluid . Mix 50/50 and it takes the top spot . Granted that the mix hasn't got a long shelf life it did beat Kroil . Just thought you'd like to know .
 :)
For as old as I am , I've still got alot to learn .
