Wapak #9 griddle
« on: May 13, 2015, 10:16:42 AM »
I've run across a Wapak #9 griddle for $10. The cooking surface looks good, but it does have a little surface rust. I couldn't find a gate mark and there's no "Made in USA" markings. I don't think it's anything special, like a Z logo. I was just wondering if it's a good buy at $10. I don't have a Wapak pan yet, but I don't know that I'll be able to use that size of griddle very often.

Is Wapak very collectable or should I consider this a user? Is it a value at $10?

What type of 'griddle' ?
Long griddle, bailed griddle, handled griddle.............

There would not be made in USA markings, as Wapak Hollowware Co. existed in the early 1900's.

I would not expect to see gatemarks either.

All in all, I'd give $10 if no cracks.......

There are many 'collectors' of WAPAK... :)

It's a handled griddle. I did a little extra research on Wapak and learned a lot, i.e. in existence after gate marks but bankrupt before "Made in the USA."

Thanks for the information Cheryl. I appreciate it. I think I'll try to get back there to purchase it. If nothing else, it can my second griddle when I need to get pancakes made quickly.
