Dating "ERIE" Griddles
« on: May 29, 2015, 11:39:36 AM »
I just ordered the blue book so I am hoping some of that information will be included in the book but in the mean time does anyone know if there is a way of dating the ERIE marked round griddles, I looked at the ERIE Skillet article but obviously the griddles have a different handle so that part of the dating would not apply to griddles and also the block letters with quotation marks starts stops and then starts again so it leaves the area wide open for a date range.

Hello Valerie. Sorry, but I have been busting a gut to say this. I have never dated an ERIE griddle but I have dated a few skillets and some dutch ovens.  ::) ;D ;D

Actually the information you are seeking is in the Blue Book. If you like this kind of cast iron stuff, and I think we all do or we would not be here, then you will love the Blue Book. One of the Authors is a member here on WAGS. And he has attended many of our conventions as well. You'll be amazed how helpful this book will be. It looks kind of intimidating at first but one you go through it, it all makes sense. And of course if you have any questions after you get the BB just come on here and ask and we will be happy to help you.  :)

The Blue Book is helpful as a starting point, however I think the GRIDDLES are a whole 'nother science, when it comes to figuring those out....

Bailed Griddles, Handled Griddles....

Griddles still cause my eyes to roll... ;D ;D

picked up a ERIE 16 bailed griddle for $10, because they didn't know. only problem is i don't have anything yet big enough to clean it, but working on it. then i can clean the 20 X 30 US army field griddle.
